Maple Ridge massage therapist charged with sexual assault involving youth patient

A Vancouver man working as a registered massage therapist in Maple Ridge has been charged with sexual assault following an investigation into allegations involving a youth patient.
The Maple Ridge RCMP announced June 24 that 39-year-old Christian Aquilizan has been charged with two counts of sexual assault.
Police said the investigation began in February 2026 after officers were informed of an alleged sexual assault involving a registered massage therapist and a youth that allegedly occurred during a treatment session at a Maple Ridge massage therapy clinic in December 2025.
Frontline officers conducted an investigation and later arrested the suspect.
Aquilizan is scheduled to make his next court appearance on July 8.
The charges follow restrictions imposed on Aquilizan’s massage therapy practice earlier this year by the College of Complementary Health Professionals of B.C.
On March 26, a panel of the college’s inquiry committee ordered that Aquilizan be prohibited from treating patients who identify as female and anyone under the age of 18 while an investigation was underway. The panel also required public notices outlining the restrictions to be posted at any clinic where he worked and on associated online booking pages.
According to the college’s public notice, the order was issued after a complaint alleged Aquilizan engaged in sexual misconduct involving a female patient under 18 years old.
The inquiry committee described the allegations as serious and cited concerns that the alleged conduct could be repeated if interim restrictions were not imposed. The college noted the order was a temporary protective measure and not a finding of misconduct.
The RCMP said the criminal investigation remains ongoing and investigators believe there may be other people in the community who have information that could assist the case.
Anyone with information who has not yet spoken with police is asked to contact the Maple Ridge RCMP at 604-463-6251 and quote file number 2026-3042.
As with all criminal charges, the allegations against Aquilizan have not been proven in court.
