A man has been charged with first-degree murder nearly eight years after a Delta resident was found dead in Pitt Meadows.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) announced June 16 that 45-year-old Miikael Tattoo King, formerly known as Michael Branden Anderson, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of obstruction of justice in connection with the death of 43-year-old Ian Roberts.

Police believe the homicide was targeted and involved individuals who knew one another.

“This was a lengthy and highly complex investigation that demanded years of dedicated work by investigators who were committed to finding the answers,” Sgt. Freda Fong, media relations officer with IHIT.

Roberts’ body was discovered on April 30, 2018, after Ridge Meadows RCMP received a report of a deceased man in Pitt Meadows at about 2:30 p.m. Earlier that same day, Langley RCMP had recovered a red 1996 GMC Jimmy linked to Roberts.

IHIT took over the investigation and worked alongside Ridge Meadows RCMP, as well as police in Langley, Surrey and Delta, to determine the circumstances surrounding Roberts’ death.

According to investigators, the case remained active for years as officers continued to gather evidence and reconstruct the events leading up to the homicide.

IHIT said investigators were able to identify critical information regarding Roberts’ cause of death and the location where the killing allegedly occurred.

On June 11, 2026, prosecutors approved charges against Tattoo King.

“Through meticulous examination of evidence and persistent pursuit of all available leads, the investigation has now reached a significant milestone with the laying of a first-degree murder charge,” Fong said. “We hope this development provides some measure of comfort to the victim’s loved ones as the judicial process moves forward.”

Because the matter is now before the courts, IHIT said no further details will be released.

Tattoo King is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. The charges have not been proven in court.
