After the scorching hot week, Maple Ridge residents are in for a treat as the Albion Block party is returning on Saturday, August 20, 2022.
The annual block party takes place on 243 Street between 102A Avenue and 102B Avenue. It has been a neighbourhood tradition since 2019 organized by Tara Adamyk, a realtor by profession and an involved neighbour for the past 15 years.

This year, Amanda Godfrey from Handmade Harvest is the main organizer with Adamyk’s help.
Hundreds of people have attended past block parties in Albion as it is a family-oriented neighbourhood, shared Adamyk.
The event will begin at 1 p.m. with a live performance by The Undercover Band featuring former Canadian Idol contestant, Matt Kennedy. A performance by Jonathan Reichert and solo artists will follow.
For children’s entertainment, Dilly the Clown and The Fairy Godmother will perform, including balloon twisting and a game setup by Cornerstone Church.
Local artisans will also be selling their products. Handmade Harvest, Wicklund Creations, Fuzzy Bubbles, Maggie May Creations, and Beading and Bracelets among others will set up their stalls for visitors to shop.
Fresh hot dogs and water will be served by donations and all funds raised will go to Cythera Transition House, shared Godfrey.
Adamyk shared that due to extreme heat, neighbours haven’t been able to socialize as much. Through this event, neighbours will get a chance to come out, mingle again and welcome new neighbours to the city.
Everyone is really looking forward to this year’s party. It’s been so hot this year that we haven’t been seeing many neighbours outside. However, this Saturday is not supposed to be too hot so hopefully, some neighbours that haven’t seen each other in a while can visit and the kids can have some fun,” said Adamyk.
